Can be made in 15 minutes
The following food recipe is quick and easy to make in a matter of minutes. You can also change the meat filling to suit your taste as it works very well with chicken too. To make a ciabatta meat sandwich you will need the following ingredients:
- 1 Ciabatta loaf
- 2 large mushrooms
- 2 x 200g of steak
- 1 sprig of rosemary
- Dijon mustard
- Extra virgin olive oil
- Lemon juice
- Watercress
- Salt and pepper
- Olive oil
Meat sandwhich ingredients
Use fresh ingredients
Using a non stick frying pan, place on the highest heat setting. Slice across the bottom of your mushrooms to ensure they sit nice and flat in your frying pan. Place the mushrooms into the pan, and press down, once charred, turn over and leave to prepare your steaks. Slice through the middle of both steaks, and open up, like you would a roll. Finely chop the rosemary, and sprinkle onto your chopping board along with a good pinch of the salt, and the pepper. Drizzle the steaks with a little olive oil, and pat both sides onto the seasoning from the chopping board, this will ensure that the flavours are locked into the meat.
Fast and easy cooking
Place the cooked mushrooms onto a plate, and transfer the steaks from the chopping board to the pan, pressing them down firmly. Keep turning every minute until you have the desired cooked steak. Around 4 minutes would be ideal for a medium steak. When cooked, remove, and place with the mushrooms. Cut the ciabatta loaf in half, and place them in the pan for a couple of minutes, again pushing down to achieve a char grilled finish. Squeeze a little lemon juice, along with a pinch of the salt and pepper over the mushrooms and steak, and drizzle a little extra virgin oil over both. Put the steak, mushrooms, and a little watercress on top of the toasted ciabatta, and serve with the Dijon mustard. You can use the juices from the steak to pour over the finished dish, for extra flavour.
This quick and easy ciabatta sandwich is delicious as a midday meal, and the flavours will leave you wanting more.
